BIO: Nicky’s book Feather Boy won the Blue Peter Book of the Year Award and was later filmed by the BBC, winning a BAFTA for Best Children’s Drama. In 2010 she adapted her novel Knight Crew (a re-telling of the King Arthur legend) for an opera premiered at Glyndebourne and last year her drama Island played at the National Theatre. Her most recent novel (about songs and souls and things which live in bottles) is The Flask. The Guardian called it ‘a nourishing and uplifting story, with big themes and a big heart’.
